55-year-old Gao Bingguo decided to use the bank holiday to break the obscure world record for number of bees on a human body at one time.
Bingguo is no stranger to such an attempt: he has been a beekeeper for over 30 years and broke an earlier record last year when he endured the weight of 326,000 bees on his torso.
This time, enlisting the help of his fellow beekeepers, Gao attached a dozen queen bees to his body to help attract other insects as large balls of bees were poured over him, having been taken from hundreds of hives across the country.
Gao was covered with 109.05 kg of bees. It is estimated that 10,000 bees weigh 1kg, so it is believed 1.1 million bees swarmed Gao's body for nearly an hour.
The Qilu Evening News reported that Gao, from Tai’an in Shandong province, was stung around 2,000 times.
Still, he broke the record, so we guess it was worth it.
