A man has been arrested after leaving a boy he is related to on the side of a road because he “thinks that [the boy] is gay”.

Police in Florida said Evenaud Julmeaus, 30, became angry with the boy after he found gay pornography on the youth’s phone.

They had a verbal argument, and Julmeaus told the boy to pack a bag and get in the car.

Once in the car, Julmeaus allegedly drove him to the Haines City Police Department, which was closed at the time, and dropped him off on the side of the road in front of the building.

He allegedly told the boy before he drove off that “the police will find you a new home”, reported ABC News.

The youth, whose age was not disclosed, was left there crying without a phone, food, water, or money and could not contact anyone. A witness saw Julmeaus drive off without the boy and alerted the authorities.

Police said in an arrest affidavit that the boy’s mother immediately went to pick him up after Julmeaus returned to their home and told her where he was.

She left her other two children, who are minors, with him. When police turned up to the house, they found Julmeaus had fled, leaving the children without adult supervision.

According to the New York Post, he has been charged with three counts of negligent child abuse without bodily harm and is now in custody after he turned himself in.

The relationship between Julmeaus and the boy has not been disclosed to protect the minor's identity, police said.
