A 41-year-old woman has died after falling from a multi-storey car park in Cardiff.

South Wales Police were called to the incident in the city centre at 6.40pm last night, and closed off a large section of Westgate Street.

The police cordon was set up around the NCP Westgate Street car park, which has six above-ground levels and is situated directly opposite the Millennium Stadium.

An ambulance also attended the incident, but the woman was declared dead at the scene, BBC News reported.

Inspector Chris Truscott from South Wales Police told WalesOnline that “a person has apparently fallen from height at the location”, but was unable to provide further details.

The death is now under investigation, though police said they did not believe there were any suspicious circumstances.

The coroner has been informed.
