From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The lucky UK-ticketholder who scooped a massive £37 million on Friday's EuroMillions jackpot has banked their winnings but decided to remain anonymous, Camelot said today.

The whopping £37,827,314.60 prize was won by just one ticketholder.

It is the 14th-largest jackpot win ever in the UK and the eighth big British EuroMillions triumph this year.

Lottery operator Camelot said no further details will be released about the winner.

A spokesman said: "The UK's run of EuroMillions luck continues - this is the eighth jackpot banked on these shores in 2012.

"In addition to the chance to win a life-changing prize, EuroMillions players contribute to the £30 million raised every week for National Lottery Good Causes, benefiting communities across the UK."

Top of the National Lottery Rich List are Colin and Chris Weir from Largs in Ayrshire who banked £161 million in July last year.

Just last month Adrian and Gillian Bayford, of Haverhill, Suffolk, won the second-largest jackpot yet in the UK, taking home £148 million.

Friday's winner is placed behind the syndicate of 12 bus drivers from Corby, Northamptonshire, who won £38 million in March and ahead of Angela Kelly from East Kilbride, who won £35 million in August 2007.

The winning main EuroMillions numbers were 13, 15, 30, 35, and 42, and the Lucky Stars were 4 and 6.
