World's 100 most wanted criminals to be named – and some are living in Britain
More than 100 of the world's most wanted fugitives and suspected criminals will be named tomorrow in the first international public appeal for fugitives. The list, which excludes terrorists, includes murderers, rapists and paedophiles.
The month-long campaign will focus on dangerous criminals who have fled their home countries. The British part of the International Fugitive Roundup operation details 17 foreign criminals thought to be in the UK and wanted by the Serious and Organised Crime Agency (Soca).
They include Hungarian Balazs Asztalos, 25, who allegedly raped his four-year-old daughter and forced her five-year-old sister to watch. He is thought to have been in Milton Keynes last year, before going into hiding. Also on the list is murderer and rapist Bogumil Kaczmarczyk, 29, one of Poland's most wanted criminals, who may be living in Sussex.
Lord Ashcroft, founder and chair of Crimestoppers, which will publicise the British portion of the list, said: "The initiative is truly an international one. Fugitives hide across the globe in all communities, large and small. Criminals on the most wanted list are heinous people and need to be caught."
Soca's deputy director, David Armond, said: "Soca is committed to bringing UK fugitives back to face justice at home, and helping our partners in other countries to do the same."
The public are asked to report any sightings of the fugitives to Crimestoppers (0800-555-111, www.crimestoppers-uk.org). All information will be passed on to Interpol.
