Boy who 'stabbed teenager in the heart' used 'Boris Bike' to escape murder scene, court told
Victim was was slumped down and limp, Old Bailey told
A schoolboy rode away on a "Boris Bike" after he stabbed another teenager in the heart behind a Waitrose shop in west London, a court has heard.
Ayoub Hassan, 17, was attacked at the back of the supermarket in Kensington, on the afternoon of 7 March. He suffered a wound to his chest and although he was rushed to hospital he later died of his injuries.
A 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is on trial accused of his murder at London's Old Bailey.
Hassan was with a group of youths seen loitering and smoking around an alleyway, prosecutor Anthony Orchard QC told the court.
Shortly after 2pm, one was heard to shout: "Oi this way, this way", he said. Another youth was seen holding Ayoub, who was slumped down and limp.
When a trainee nurse rushed over to help and asked what had happened, Mr Orchard said she was told: "No he's been stabbed."
She called for an ambulance as Ayoub was barely conscious and rapidly deteriorating.
Police pieced together events from CCTV culminating in the stabbing, jurors were told. The footage allegedly showed the defendant approach Ayoub and become "agitated".
Mr Orchard said the youth suddenly "punched out with a knife, once, striking Ayoub in the chest."
He added: "You can see the blade of the knife. One of the other youths responded immediately by trying to push [the defendant] away. Ayoub moved away holding his chest. The group, including the defendant, followed him down the alleyway."
Ayoub then collapsed, "was helped to his feet, stumbled a short distance and then collapsed again." he said.
The defendant meanwhile "left the alleyway and is captured on CCTV mounting a Boris Bike that had been left nearby and cycling away," he added.
Another member of the group dropped a folding lock knife into a nearby drain, jurors heard. It was later recovered by police.
Officers also found a cannabis grinder in the victim's Parka coat.
The court heard that none of the youths who were with Ayoub and the defendant that day had helped police or explained the reasons for the stabbing.
The defendant, who was aged 15 at the time, has denied murder. Jurors were told that they had pleaded guilty to a second charge of having a knife on 7 March.
Mr Orchard said: "The prosecution case is that [the defendant] deliberately attacked Ayoub Hassan without any justification. He did so unlawfully. He was not acting in lawful self-defence. It is clear, you may think, from the CCTV the deceased did not have a weapon in his hand at the time he was attacked."
