Father had been arrested over 'kill threat'

A father who murdered his toddler son and ex-girlfriend before killing himself had been arrested last week after threatening to kill her.

Rachael Slack, 38, and her 23-month-old son Auden were stabbed to death at their cottage in rural Holbrook, Derbyshire, on Thursday morning.

The 44-year-old father, known only as Andrew, then turned the knife on himself. Derbyshire Constabulary confirmed the dead man had been arrested and said the matter had been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

An IPCC spokesman said: "We are assessing the information before deciding what involvement by the IPCC is required in an investigation."

Ms Slack is believed to have only recently moved to the area after living as an ex-pat in Spain.
