CCTV shows teenager punch 87-year-old on bus in 'nasty attack'
The assault occurred on Friday 16 October in Croydon
CCTV footage has been released by police that shows a teenager punching an 87-year-old woman on a London bus.
In the video an elderly woman can be seen talking to two young black girls, who police say had boarded the bus without paying.
As the victim rises from her seat, one of the suspects can be seen hitting her in the face before both girls fled the scene.
The elderly woman was left with a black eye after the attack on the Route 166 in Croydon.
She was taken by the London Ambulance Service to St Helier Hospital after another passenger came to her aid.
"This was a nasty attack on an elderly woman who just wanted to get home," police sergeant Arran Hillier said.
"I urge anyone who may recognise the suspects to contact the police."
The suspects are described as black girls, aged between 14 and 18 years old. One of the girls wore a black head band.
