Liam Smith, 24, went on This Morning to talk about the rather unusual turn of events.
The Bristol-based student spoke to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “She thought it was very funny to be honest,” he said, revealing that his anonymous date was watching at home.
After meeting on Tinder, the duo enjoyed a meal at Nando’s together before heading back to Smith’s house.
“We were having a really nice night. We got on really well and had a lot in common," he explained.
"We were watching the Louis Theroux Scientology documentary. About an hour in, she got up to go to the toilet and she came back after a little while, and said 'I don’t know how to tell you this Liam, I know it’s really awkward but I went to the toilet and it wouldn’t flush and I panicked and I wrapped it up and threw it out of your window.'"
"She did reach it, to be fair," Smith continued. "We launched it into the toilet," he said, before explaining how the poo had gone but his date remained lodged in the window.
"I was pulling and pulling and pulling," he said of his struggle to get her out.
The pair ended up having to phone the fire brigade, who were finally able to retrieve his date.
After "poo-gate," Smith set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to fix his broken window. He raised a total of £2,775 and will be splitting it between two charities, The Fire Fighters Charity and Toilet Twinning.
Smith went on to reveal that he might see her again, saying he owes her a drink “after all of this.”
Romance isn’t dead after all.
