From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Jacobs unveiled his ad campaign last week with an image of Cher posted to social media by Love magazine editor Katie Grand which shortly went viral.
It was announced that a new image from the autumn/winter 2015 campaign will be released every week on Jacob's Instagram account - this week's star being the singer/actress teen star Willow Smith (daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett).
With this latest image shared on Instagram, Jacobs explained his choice of campaign star:
"Ever since our first Juergen Teller ad in 1998 which featured Kim Gordon on stage wearing my dress, I have always preferred collaborating with the people who inspire me to give new life to the clothes we show on our runway."
"Beauty, style and talent know no age. It is those individuals whose creativity, unique vision, and voice inspire all of us here to create and express ourselves through our medium: fashion."
"Here today I would like to share (not CHER) with you first, the talented, stylish and charming Willow Smith@gweelos Stay tuned over the coming weeks for more…"
