From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A first glimpse of Hollywood actress Julianne Moore's first commercial for Italian jewelry brand Bulgari can now be watched on YouTube.

While Moore is seen wearing the jewelry in question and being prepared for a shoot in this clip posted on YouTube January 7, she has to share the spotlight with a white cockatoo who ends up wearing a luxurious gold necklace encrusted with emeralds.

Moore's appointment as the luxe label's new spokesmodel is part of two key trends in the fashion and beauty industries: firstly, she joins the ranks of other established Hollywood stars who are increasingly replacing the classic model (think Demi Moore for Helena Rubinstein, Julia Roberts for Lancôme, or Scarlett Johansson for Louis Vuitton). Secondly, fashion has been growing fond of more mature women (Jerry Hall for Chanel, Madonna for Dolce & Gabbana, Chisty Turlington for YSL).

The campaign, which seems to be entitled 'Eccentric Charisma,' is so far not giving any straight-on shots of the actual products - an 'artsy' approach favored by many brands at the moment to build up the 'buzz' in the run-up to the launch.

Photographer duo Mert & Marcus shot the print campaign, which will officially appear in February.

Moore had the fashion crowd talking previously by taking on a role in designer Tom Ford's movie debut A Single Man.
