Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kim Kardashian, the reality star from Keeping up with the Kardashians and author of her own beauty blog, will release her perfume together with Lighthouse Beauty in February next year.
The final scent will include notes of jasmine, tuberose, gardenia as well as tonka bean, jacaranda wood and sandalwood, priced from $32 to $65 per bottle.
"I wanted to make sure I liked it in every single stage," Kardashian told Women's Wear Daily of the collaboration with Lighthouse. "It's really cool to know that's what is in this bottle is exactly how I want to smell.
"What's so different about their approach is that they have worked closely with me on all aspects of my fragrance, the bottle, the juice, and even our distribution strategy so I can develop a product that truly represents me and speaks to my fans."
Chris Lighty, a partner in Lighthouse Beauty, said: "Having worked with some of the top talent in the entertainment industry, I have a unique perspective on capturing the essence of a celebrity in a product.
"We worked closely with top perfumers [Claude Dir at Givaudan] to infuse Kim's larger-than-life personality into a fragrance [...]."
Lighthouse Beauty, a new US beauty brand partially owned by Parlux Fragrances, will also release rapper 50 Cent's first men's fragrance this fall.
