Vodafone broadband packages

The broadband deals you can enjoy will depend on where you live, as certain postcodes won’t be able to access the full range of packages offered by Vodafone.

The minimum contract length for Vodafone broadband is 24 months. If you want a broadband and TV package, you can upgrade to Vodafone Xtra Broadband Plus to receive 24 months of Apple TV+. Below are Vodafone’s main broadband deals.

Fibre 1

Fibre 1 is Vodafone’s most basic fibre broadband package. It offers download speeds of 35 megabits per second (Mbps) and costs £26 a month.

With fibre broadband, the provider uses fibre optic cables to connect the exchange to a cabinet on your street. Your home is then connected to the exchange by slower copper cables.

Vodafone Full Fibre 1 is also available with a Super WiFi booster, costing £33 a month.

Fibre 2

An improvement on Fibre 1, Fibre 2 is Vodafone’s best standard fibre broadband package. It offers download speeds of 67Mbps and also costs £26 a month. Fibre 2 is also available with Super WiFi, costing £33 a month.

Full Fibre 74

Full Fibre 74 is the cheapest full fibre package Vodafone offers, costing £26 a month with download speeds of 74Mbps. You’ll only be able to access this deal if full fibre is available in your area.

Full fibre broadband connects your home directly to the exchange using fibre optic cables. This makes it faster than standard fibre broadband.

Full Fibre 80 CityFibre

If you live in certain areas, you can access Vodafone Full Fibre 80 CityFibre. This provides download speeds of 80Mbps, and costs £24 a month. It’s also available with Super WiFi for £31 a month.

CityFibre is the UK’s largest alternative wholesale fibre network and has partnered with Vodafone to offer full fibre broadband in specific regions.

Full Fibre 150

Vodafone Full Fibre 150 provides download speeds of 150Mbps and costs £29 a month. It is also available with Super WiFi, costing £36 a month.

Depending on your area, you can also get Full Fibre 150 CityFibre, with or without Super WiFi.

Full Fibre 500

Full Fibre 500 offers download speeds of 500Mbps for £33 a month. With Super WiFi, it costs £40 a month.

Vodafone Full Fibre 500 is also available through CityFibre, both with and without Super WiFi.

Full Fibre 910

Offering download speeds of 910 Mbps, Full Fibre 910 costs £39 a month (or £46 a month with Super WiFi). Depending on your area, you can get Full Fibre 910 CityFibre with or without Super WiFi.

Vodafone Pro II Broadband

All the packages mentioned above are also available with Vodafone Pro II Broadband, with the cheapest deal starting at £39 a month.

Every Vodafone Pro II Broadband package comes with a WiFI 6E Ultra Hub, Super WiFi booster, dedicated WiFi Xpert support and Secure Net Home.

Whereas normal Vodafone broadband has a maximum download speed of 910Mbps, Pro II Broadband can hit download speeds of 2.2 gigabits per second (Gbps).

What speeds can you get with Vodafone broadband?

While it’s useful to know the maximum advertised speeds for each Vodafone broadband package, your connection may sometimes (or often) be slower than these download speeds. Your personal download speed will be affected by where you live and the placement of your router, among other factors.

Vodafone download speeds reliability

According to our Independent Advisor survey, 62.49 per cent of Vodafone customers felt that their download speeds “mostly” or “always” matched the provider’s advertised speeds.

However, just over a quarter (25.81 per cent) of Vodafone customers did say they’d suffered from “slow speeds” in the past.

Vodafone wifi hub and boosters

If you opt for normal Vodafone broadband, your deal will include a free Power Hub with WiFi 6 technology. You can then increase your household’s coverage with a Super WiFi booster for an additional £8 a month.

If you choose a Pro II Broadband package, you’ll receive a free Ultra Hub with Wifi 6E technology. You’ll also receive a free Super WiFi booster and the ability to automatically switch to Vodafone’s 4G network if your internet goes down, thanks to its Broadband Back-Up feature.

Can I use my own router?

You must use a Vodafone-supplied router if you have a Pro II plan or a package that includes the Digital Voice broadband and phone service.

It’s possible to use your own router with any of Vodafone’s other broadband plans as long as the router is Openreach-approved.

Vodafone broadband app

With the Vodafone broadband app, you’ll be able to:

  • Check your connection
  • View your bills and usage history
  • See who is connected to your network and manage your devices
  • Share your wifi password using a QR code
  • Use network assistance to solve your wifi issues (if you have an Ultra Hub)
  • Set up a guest wifi network for your family and friends

The Vodafone broadband mobile app has the following scores:

  • App Store: 4.1/5, based on more than 7,400 reviews
  • Google Play: 2.3/5, based on more than 14,700 reviews

How to switch to Vodafone broadband

It’s easy to switch to Vodafone broadband. You’ll just need to:

  1. Pick your package: this will partly depend on what is available in your area
  2. Choose an installation date: your router, and any other equipment, should arrive three days before this date. You’ll only need an in-person installation if you’re getting full fibre for the first time, setting up your household’s first-ever broadband connection or are switching from Virgin Media
  3. Wait for your connection date: you then just need to wait for your installation date, and you’ll be all set to connect to your Vodafone broadband

How to set up your Vodafone broadband router

If you don’t need an engineer to install your line, you can set up your Vodafone broadband yourself. Once you’ve received your router, you’ll need to:

  1. Find the master phone socket: this will likely be at the front of your home
  2. Connect your router to the master socket: if you’ve been supplied with a microfilter, plug it into the master socket, and then plug the DSL cable into both your router and the microfilter. If you don’t need a microfilter, plug the DSL cable directly into both the master socket and your router
  3. Plug your router into the power supply: if you can, plug in your router somewhere that it can be elevated. You should also keep it away from other electronic devices, such as your TV, or large pieces of furniture that may block the signal, such as a sofa
  4. Turn it on and get connected: you’re then ready to turn on the power, and wait for your router to connect to the internet

Vodafone broadband setup fees

Currently, there are no fees for setting up or activating your new Vodafone broadband account. However, this is subject to change at any time. Plus, if you’re switching to a new type of broadband that you haven’t had before at your property, you may still have to pay forst of an engineer to come out.

Which network does Vodafone use?

Like most broadband providers in the UK, Vodafone uses the Openreach network. However, Vodafone also uses CityFibre in certain areas.

Pros and cons of Vodaphone broadband

Pros
Best value for money: Vodafone was awarded “Best value for money” broadband provider by Independent Advisor
Customer satisfaction: according to our survey, 86 per cent of Vodafone customers are satisfied with their broadband
Reliable connection: Vodafone is one of the top three most reliable providers when it comes to your internet connection, according to our survey
Activation and setup costs are also free: all of Vodafone’s packages come with zero setup or activation fees, so you won’t need to pay any upfront costs to switch to the provider
Broadband and mobile discount: you can receive a 30 per cent discount on additional mobile Pay monthly plans if you choose a broadband and mobile deal
VeryMe Rewards: you can receive a number of offers on the My Vodafone app, including cinema ticket deals, supermarket discounts and mor
Cons
Ofcom complaints: for broadband specifically, Ofcom found that Vodafone received more complaints per 100,000 than any other large provider in the UK
Advertised download speeds are much higher than the actual guarantee: when you expand on a broadband plan, you’ll see the guaranteed download speeds that Vodafone promises to give you, and you’ll notice that these are markedly lower than the average advertised download speeds you’re signing up for. This is why it’s called an average, after all, but it’s worth keeping in mind before switching to Vodafone broadband.
Vodafone’s full fibre packages are mostly offered to busier areas in the UK: if you’re in a very remote area and are hoping to enjoy a full fibre package from Vodafone, you might be disappointed to find the provider’s full fibre service hasn’t quite reached you yet. This is the case across plenty of broadband providers, though, not just Vodafone
