ADHD medication prescriptions in England have risen significantly, increasing by 18 per cent annually since the start of the Covid pandemic.
Although commonly associated with childhood, ADHD can persist into adulthood with subtle symptoms such as chronic disorganisation, impulsivity, difficulty focusing, restlessness, and procrastination.
Adults with ADHD may also experience poor time management, low mood and self-esteem, and low frustration tolerance, often leading to anger or disruptive behavior.
A diagnosis of ADHD can be obtained through specialist assessment teams or by consulting a GP who can provide referrals.
Diagnosis can offer valuable insights into how the brain functions and open doors to treatment through medication or talk therapy.
