Check out out our Glorious Goodwood tips for 2023 Festival.
Over the last five years trainer Andrew Balding has saddled the most winners at Goodwood across all fixtures. He boasts a win percentage of 16% during that time.
With less runners Charlie Appleby is operating at an impressive 27% strike rate for winners at the track with 20 winners from 73 runners at the time of writing. It will be worth noting anything he saddles during the five days of the Goodwood Festival.
Other notable trainers operating at 20% or higher include William Haggas and John and Thady Gosden but perhaps Charlie Johnston, who has only saddled 18 runners at the track since taking over from father Mark, should be kept on side with a 33% strike rate and 67% of those runners so far hitting the frame.
Oisin Murphy boasts the most winners over the past five seasons at the Goodwood track, with almost a 20% strike rate.
William Buick is close behind and from less rides with an impressive strike rate of 23% and both will be hoping for a big week on the downs at Glorious Goodwood.
The track is unique, right handed and undulating with sharp bends making it a tricky test for horse and jockey in comparison to other courses in the UK.
Those who like to race off the pace, or arrive from behind, can often find it difficult to make headway, especially up the rail side of the track.
Something to bear in mind when assessing your potential bets and, given that it is one of the fastest tracks in the country, speed is very important over all distances.
