Below you will find a runner-by-runner guide for the 2024 Cheltenham Festival Gold Cup, including form, weights, odds from leading betting sites and information for each of the horses in the showpiece race.

2024 Runner-By-Runner Guide

Bravemansgame

The Paul Nicholls-trained runner followed Galopin Des Champs home in the 2023 Gold Cup and isn’t without a chance this year. Has finished second on all three of his outings this season including the King George VI Chase.

Corach Rambler

The 2023 Grand National winner was victorious in the Ultima Handicap Chase twelve months ago, with the horse guaranteed to stay this trip. Lucinda Russell has seen her horse finish fifth and third in his outings this season.

Fastorslow

The horse regarded by gambling sites as the most likely to lower the colours of Galopin Des Champs. Trained by Martin Brassil, the eight-year-old is highly regarded and finished four and a half furlongs behind the champ at the Dublin Racing Festival.

Galopin Des Champs

The one that they all have to beat. Impressive winner of the 2023 renewal and the expectation is that we’ll see a repeat performance. Has landed consecutive victories coming into this race.

Gentlemansgame

Mouse Morris knows how to train a Gold Cup winner and his eight-year-old beat Bravemansgame at Wetherby last time out. Has been lightly raced this season and holds each-way claims.

Gerri Colombe

Second to The Real Whacker in the Brown Advisory 12 months ago before claiming an impressive win at Aintree. Now among the Gold Cup favourites but has 23 lengths to find on Galopin Des Champs.

Jungle Boogie

One of the Gold Cup outsiders might find the pace too hot to handle. Nevertheless, Rachael Blackmore is on board a Henry De Bromhead-trained runner who won at Tramore on New Year’s Day.

L’Homme Presse

The Venetia Williams-trained runner has to be one for the shortlist, with the nine-year-old finishing second in the Betfair Ascot Chase at Ascot last month.

Monkfish

Trading at a big price based on historic achievements and signs that the horse could be rejuvenated this season. The 10-year-old warmed up with a win at Gowran Park over three miles on heavy ground.

Nassalam

Has scored back-to-back successes at Chepstow this season but needs to find further improvement in the Gold Cup. A 34 length win over the festive period was eye-catching.

The Real Whacker

Can’t be discounted after winning the Brown Advisory last year. The eight-year-old hasn’t shown the strongest of form this year but did finish second in the Paddy Power Cotswold Chase.

Gold Cup Betting Promotions

All of The Independent’s recommended betting sites offer bonuses and promotions, including horse racing free bets for new and existing customers.

The offers will vary on the best horse racing betting sites and can change regularly. These are some of the promotions that new and existing users can expect to benefit from around the Gold Cup.

  • New customer welcome bonuses: This type of promotion usually requires a customer using a gambling site or betting app for the first time to register a new account, deposit, and place an initial bet. Once the initial bet is settled, the promotion will be available, usually as a free bet. Always check the terms and conditions when opening new horse racing betting app accounts.
  • Cashback offers: The best Gold Cup betting sites will offer cashback promotions for new and existing customers. These offers allow users to bet on a selected horse race or races. If the bet loses, a percentage of the stake money will be returned as a cash bonus.
  • Free bet promos: A free bet promotion usually needs customers to fulfill a stipulated series of bets or the total value of bets. For example, a typical free bet promo may require users to place a certain amount on accumulators in a specified timeline. Once fulfilled, users receive a free bet as a bonus.
  • Money-back as a free bet: Money-back offers are a regular feature on horse race betting sites. These bonuses are constructed around a specific outcome. An example of this kind of promotion is money-back as a free bet if your horse finishes second to the SP favourite.
  • Best odds guaranteed: The best horse race betting sites provide customers with a Best Odds Guaranteed service. This means that if a user takes an early price on a horse and the starting price is higher, the bet, if a winning one, will be settled at the better price.
  • Extra place races: Betting websites will increase the number of each-way places paid on selected races. In the Gold Cup, it is not unusual for the best horse racing betting sites to offer four or more each-way places.
  • Price boosts: Enhanced odds are offered on selected runners at most horse race meetings. Some betting operators will provide customers with several boosts each day, which they can use on Cheltenham odds.
  • Acca Insurance: Some of the best horse racing apps offer customers acca insurance. If one leg of an accumulator fails to win, the stake or part of the stake will be refunded as a free bet.
New customers only. 7 days to place qualifying bet of £10+ at 1/1 (2.0) to receive 4 x Free Bets: x1 £10 Football, x1 £10 Acca, x 1 £10 BetBuilder, x1 £10 Horse Racing. 7 day expiry. Stake not returned. 18+. Exclusions Apply. T&Cs apply.
