From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The first Last Shadow Puppets album in eight years is almost upon us, and in the run up to release, the duo have unveiled a new song and accompanying video.

"Everything You've Come To Expect" serves as the title track of their sophomore record which will be released on 1 April.

Comprised of Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner and solo musician Miles Kane, the video shows the two buried up to their shoulders in sand, at the mercy of a woman dressed in a wedding dress and the incoming tide.

While their first song to be taken from the new album, "Bad Habits," hinted at a new direction for the two, this track - with its tranquil piano and violins - harks back to their Mercury Music Prize-nominated first album The Age of the Understatement.

To mark the record's release, The Last Shadow Puppets will play an intimate show at the Hackney Empire on 1 April before embarking on a UK, US and European tour later this year.
