Fortnite downtime ends after servers implement latest patch update 13.20
Epic Games teased that the update would ‘add new flare’ to the hit battle royale game
Fortnite servers are back up after experiencing downtime in order to implement the latest patch 13.20 for the hit battle royale game.
Developers Epic Games announced the downtime earlier this morning after Fortnite was taken offline at 7am BST.
Servers are reportedly offline for anywhere between an hour and two hours, but in some cases could be longer.
The update promised to “add new flare” to the game – which prompted fans to speculate that the Flare Gun weapon will be making a return.
After the update was implemented, players can update their game by downloading patch 13.20 and logging back into their game accounts.
At around 10.20pm on Tuesday 30 June, Fornite confirmed that the downtime was over.
"Downtime for v13.20 has ended," they wrote on Twitter. "Carry on the battle with flare."
Fortnite recently launched a major new update as it began its water-themed chapter two, season three story.
Chapter two, season three adds the ability to hitch rides around the map on sharks, and brought with it new character skins, weapons, and more.
Fortnite recently made headlines for its decision to remove police cars from the in-game maps, in the wake of global protests over police racism and brutality.
