From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. He plays the hapless weatherman Brick Tamland in Anchorman but it appears that Steve Carell is taking his role a little too seriously.

The actor was on ITV's breakfast morning show DayBreak talking about the upcoming Anchorman sequel when he decided to present the weather himself, leaving weather girl Laura Tobin in fits of giggles.

Shortly before Tobin started her weather bulletin Carell said to her: "If I can give you a piece of advice, clear your mind and think of anything but the weather while you're doing it."

She jokingly replied: "This is the most pressure I've ever felt to do the weather!"

As she started her piece to camera about this morning's fog, Carell stepped in and helped her out, causing Tobin to burst out laughing.

He went on to question her about the weather symbols before finishing the report by saying: "This is the hardest job in the world."

Carell is not the only Anchorman actor to have tried his hand at news presenting. Last week Will Ferrell, who plays the irrepressible Ron Burgundy, presented the news as his alter ego. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues will be out later this month.
