‘Make the journey part of your holiday’, say slow travel experts in our latest virtual event
Slow travel beats flying when it comes to making the most of your holiday, a panel of experts assembled for The Independent’s latest virtual event agreed.
Experts Mark Smith (aka Man in Seat 61), Anna Hughes (from Flight Free UK), and Helen Coffey (author of Zero Altitude) discussed the benefits of staying grounded with climate correspondent Louise Boyle.
Suggestions included ditching departure lounges, cramped airplanes and long security queues for time-efficient sleeper trains, scenic ferry journeys and thrilling cycle rides.
