Andrea Cavallier is senior reporter at The Independent, covering crime and breaking news. In this role, she has covered the ongoing saga of the Alex Murdaugh murders, the reopening of cold cases potentially linked to BTK killer Dennis Rader and the arrest of Bardstown mom Crystal Rogers’ boyfriend, a major breakthrough in the case eight years after she vanished. Andrea is particularly interested in giving a voice to the victims and shining a light on cases of missing persons of color. In 2019, Andrea won a New York Emmy for her PIX11 News coverage of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz, the teen who was killed in a gang attack outside a Bronx bodega. Andrea began her career at The Courier-Tribune in North Carolina before moving to New York City in 2014 where she worked stints at Dateline NBC, PIX11 News, and Daily Mail, before joining The Independent in 2023.
