Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot has admitted he wants to return to England and the Premier League, eight years after representing Manchester City’s youth team.

Rabiot spent a few months with City in 2008 before joining the French champions’ Camp des Loges training base in 2010 and receiving a first professional contract two years later.

The France under-21 midfielder has been linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs since making his PSG debut, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United all reportedly interested in bringing Rabiot back to England.

And despite only spending a brief time in Manchester, the experience has left the 21-year-old wanting to return to the Premier League at some point in his career.

“I really liked my time in England and the life there, even outside of football,” he told French outlet Telefoot.

“I told myself that I will return one day. I have always had the desire to play in England, it is in me.

“The Premier League – that is football.”

PSG have wealth of competition in the centre of midfield with Rabiot battling Blaise Matuidi, Thiago Motta, Marco Verratti and new signing Grzegorz Krychowiak for two positions.

However, Rabiot is not planning his return any time soon as he looks to establish himself as a PSG regular, having started the first three Ligue 1 games of the season under new boss Unai Emery.

“I want to prove this season that I can be an important player for the team,” he added.

“My ambition is to establish myself as a starter at PSG and I think that with that, international recognition will also come.

“Of course I am very happy at PSG and I would like to stay for a long time, to grow with the club and to become captain of the team one day – but we cannot predict how things can turn out.”
