Barcelona have announced that one of their players has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the La Liga side said the player in question has ”no symptoms” and is in “good health”.

The un-named squad member, who is also self-isolating at home, was one of nine to have started pre-season training on Wednesday.

Barcelona’s statement read: “The club has reported the matter to the relevant sporting and health authorities.

“All persons who have been in contact with the player have been tracked to perform the corresponding PCR tests.

“The player has not been in contact with any of the senior team players who are scheduled to travel to Lisbon this Thursday to compete in the Champions League.”

Barcelona take on Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Friday.

The remainder of the competition is being played in Lisbon with single-leg ties.
