Australia beat West Indies to claim Women's World Cup title

Ellyse Perry inspired Australia to a convincing 114-run win in the Women's World Cup final in Mumbai today.

Having set the West Indies a respectable total of 259 to chase, Perry ripped through their top order, taking a wicket in all of her first three overs to leave her opponents reeling at 41-3.

Merissa Aguillleira and Deandra Dottin had brief cameos with the bat, making 23 and 22 respectively but in the end the Caribbean side were skittled out for 145 all out from just 43.1 overs.

The backbone for Australia's victory was provided with the bat by Jess Cameron who top scored with 75 along with Rachel Haynes who made 52.

Perry also made a contribution with the bat making a lively 25 from just 22 balls in a dramatic return to the side after three games out injured.

The win seals Australia's sixth World Cup title in the tournament's history.
