From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Police had advised the resort in Windsor, Berkshire, to cancel the private fun day organised by the Muslim Research and Development Foundation.
Thames Valley police said it was investigating threats made by far-right groups before the event was cancelled.
Legoland, which said the safety of its staff remained a “priority”, was forced to shut down its Facebook page after a number of offensive posts. It said it had also received threatening phone calls and emails.
“Sadly, a private event due to take place on Sunday has had to be cancelled due to threats from right-wing groups made against the resort,” said Legoland in a statement. “The whole resort, including the hotel, will be closed for the weekend.
“We wholeheartedly understand families' disappointment that they will be unable to attend and appreciate that due to the dynamic nature of this situation we haven't been able to give them more notification.”
Guests already booked for this weekend have been given a refund.
