Prince Harry shares son Archie's first words

Prince Harry appeared on James Corden’s The Late Late Show as part of a comedy skit, which sees the pair take a Los Angeles Big Bus Sightseeing tour and do a military obstacle course.

During the course of the 17-minute video, the pair chat about Archie's first word, Christmas presents from the Queen and how he knew Meghan was the one.

Harry proudly recalls Archie’s first words: ”My son is now over a year and a half, he is hysterical, he’s got the most amazing personality.

“He’s already putting two, three words together, he’s already singing songs. His first word was ‘crocodile’. Three syllables,” smiles the Duke of Sussex.

He also talks about being able to take a bus now he no longer lives in the UK, saying: "This is very nice ... it's the first time I've been on an open-top bus ... not really allowed to.

“In London I always see them cruising around [with] tourists, and that would be really good fun because when you live in an area, you never actually go sightseeing. I've always wanted to go sightseeing."

Corden also wheeled on a tea trolly, pouring Harry a brew in cup and saucer, before they got chatting about how Harry first met Meghan, and their family life in Santa Barbara.

“We hit it off with each other and were so comfortable in each other’s company,” he said, explaining how dating people when you’re a royal is quite different because all your first dates happen behind closed doors.

“Then you venture out into public and go to restraints. Everything was done back to front with us.”

He talks about his daily routine at home after a busy day: “We do Archie’s tea, read him a book, put him down, go downstairs, might cook a meal, might order a takeaway.”

Corden also stops the bus to take Harry to visit the house used in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. “If it’s good enough for the fresh prince, it’s good enough for a real prince,” while Harry is using the loo, calls Meghan to ask her if she wants to buy the house from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

He also asks Harry what he thinks of Netflix’s The Crown, which depicts the story of the royal family and has received much criticism for its historical accuracy. “They don’t pretend to be news, it’s fictional,” said Harry.

“It’s loosely based on the truth, of course, it’s not strictly accurate. It gives you a rough idea of the lifestyle, what the pressures [are] of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that.”

The Late Late Show footage comes ahead of Harry and Meghan’s highly anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey, which airs on 7 March on CBS in the US.
