If you follow a vegan lifestyle, you know how the food has evolved in recent years - with a diet that used to be limiting transformed into a food scene to be reckoned with.

And with scientific advances making way for vegan burgers that “bleed” and food that is equal parts delicious and environmentally-friendly, it is impossible to deny that vegan food has come a long way.

But a true test of great vegan food is whether it appeals to carnivores as well.

The following restaurants are offering up vegan cuisines that pass the test, and will make you drool whether you follow a vegan lifestyle or not:

Paulie Gee's Pizza

A gourmet pizzeria in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Paulie Gee’s makes pizza pies for vegans and meat-eaters alike.

With 11 completely vegan options, herbivores can enjoy pizzas topped amazing toppings like cashew ricotta-dollops, made in-house, or vegan meatballs made with jackfruit.

Order: All the pizzas are great but Mike’s Hot Honey is a must-try topping.

John’s of 12th Street

Eating vegan often means Italian food is out of the question - as cheese is such an integral part of the cuisine.

But John’s on 12th, which has been around since the prohibition era and has the candle to prove it, creates all the typical Italian dishes with vegan alternatives.

Order: Bruschetta and Eggplant parmigiana with follow your heart cheese

(Just remember to bring cash as it’s cash-only)

abcV

Owned by celebrated chef Jean-Georges, just about everything you order in his only vegan restaurant will be incredible - and beautiful.

The restaurant is pricey but completely worth it.

Order: roasted cauliflower with turmeric tahini sauce or the grilled shiitake mushrooms with green goddess dressing

Champs Diner

Champs diner is a must for vegans. Transforming typical diner food into completely vegan versions, the Brooklyn diner is a casual spot for incredible food. And the retro diner vibe is pretty cool too.

However, it can get pretty crowded so be prepared to wait.

Order: Cheese fries or the Philly cheesesteak

Cinnamon Snail

Starting off as a food truck, the approachable vegan food was so popular that a brick and mortar location was opened in Midtown.

While the sandwiches are hit or miss, the pastries are incredible.

Order: Cinnamon Snail warmed up

Peacefood Cafe

A cute, casual date spot, Peacefood Cafe offers vegan food that is both delicious and affordable.

And all the options are great.

Order: Zucchini noodle pad-thai.

Happy eating!
