Beyonce thanks Coachella fans 'for allowing her to be first black woman to headline' festival

Beyoncé made history as the first black woman to headline Coachella music festival in Indio, California, on Saturday, astounding the world with her phenomenal talent in the process.

The superstar made sure that every detail of her performance was truly a spectacle, from her impressive set list to her five wardrobe changes.

Beyoncé’s make-up artist has provided a breakdown of the products he used on the night, which included a L’Oréal mascara that’s surprisingly affordable.

Sir John, Beyoncé’s make-up artist, explained where his ideas came from when deciding which products to use for the monumental occasion.

“Beyoncé’s Coachella beauty look can be described as ‘the coolest girl on campus at college, meets Greek goddess',” he told Elle.

“We did a glittery beautiful eye, soft nude-pink lip with golden luminous skin from head to toe.”

John began thinking about what beauty products he was going to use three weeks prior to the event, using the college-themed aesthetic of the performance as his main inspiration.

The products that he used were surprisingly affordable, considering she has an approximate net worth of $350 million (£272 million), as stated by Forbes.

John used the L’Oréal Lash Paradise Mascara to give Beyoncé’s eyelashes a voluminous appearance, which costs a mere $9.99 (£7).

He also used the L’Oréal Pro Matte Les Chocolats Scented Liquid Lipstick which retails at the same price, in addition to MAC Fluidline gel eye liner which can be bought at £13.34.

John used two different shades of glitter paste from Lemonhead on Beyoncé’s eyelids, the Houdini Highlite and Dirty Penny Spacepastes, both of which are priced at $22 (£15).

The most expensive product that John decided to use on Beyoncé’s face was the Tom Ford bronzing powder, which is available from Sephora at $68 (£47).

John also applied body concealer on the star 30 minutes before she started getting dressed for the performance, using the Alleven London Colour Shield that the make-up artist swears by, despite its hefty price of $80 (£56).

John explained why it’s important not to apply too much powder when setting a full face of make-up.

“I don’t believe in excess powder, it’s super aging,” he said.

“The key to a beautiful face is not to over powder it.

“If you layer powder and cream together it cooks perfectly and doesn’t budge."
