Ariana Grande brings out NSYNC during Coachella performance

The second and final weekend of this year’s Coachella festival is underway. The annual event, which takes place in the California desert, will feature headline performances from Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande, with other artists on the bill including The 1975 and Billie Eilish.

If you didn’t manage to secure a ticket, don’t worry – you can still follow this weekend’s action from the comfort of your home. Here is everything you need to know about watching Coachella online.

What is the Coachella schedule?

With hundreds of acts playing across eight stages, the festival lineup can be difficult to navigate. Fortunately the official Coachella website provides a helpful day-by-day schedule with stage times for each artist.

US viewers can watch Childish Gambino’s headline at 11:25pm PST tonight, which for UK viewers is 7:25am on Saturday morning.

Tame Impala will take to the stage at 10:35pm PST on Saturday (6:35am BST on Sunday), while Ariana Grande will close the festival on Sunday evening from 10.30pm PST (6.30am BST on Monday).

Grande is likely to the most talked-about act of the weekend. The 25-year-old is only the fourth female artist to headline Coachella in the event’s history, following Björk, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.

Her set last Sunday featured hits from all of five of her albums, along with surprise guest appearances from Nicki Minaj, Diddy, Mase and 1990s boy band NSYNC.

“thank u from the bottom of my heart to everybody who dedicated their time and energy to this beautiful moment,” Grande wrote on Instagram after the performance, which was dubbed ‘Arichella’ by fans.

How can I watch Coachella?

The festival’s official live stream, Coachella Curated, can be watched on the Coachella YouTube channel or through the YouTube Music app. The coverage is being hosted by KCRW radio presenter Jason Bentley.

A YouTube spokesperson said the stream will “will take a deep dive into the festival experience” by offering “encore and live performances, artist commentary, mini-docs, animated adventures and more to accompany the best bits of live music and in-studio interviews with Coachella performers”.

The stream is expected to begin at 5pm PST today, or 1am BST on Saturday.

Last weekend’s stream garnered an estimated 82.9 million views on YouTube, up 90 per cent from last year, according to Variety. The video site has been providing exclusive coverage of the event since 2011.

How can I buy tickets for Coachella 2020?

Tickets for next year’s Coachella have not yet gone on sale, but you may wish to start saving up now. Prices for this year’s tickets went on sale at $429 (£330) for general admission passes, with the cost rising to $999 (£769) for VIP access.

Artists rumoured to be on the Coachella 2020 lineup include Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake, both of whom are working on new music, although organisers have yet to make any official announcements.

The event is expected to take place on April 10-12 and April 17-19 next year.
