Harvey Weinstein enters New York police station turning himself in to authorities

Harvey Weinstein is expected to do a perp walk on Friday morning into a New York Police Department precinct.

This follows reports from multiple US media outlets that Weinstein is set to turn himself in to police. He has previously denied any wrongdoing and his lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, told The Independent he is not commenting on the matter at this time.

More than 60 women have come forward with accusations of sexual assault and harassment by the Hollywood producer. He has said that all sexual acts were consensual, while his legal team have called a number of the allegations “false”.

“This guy doesn’t get to hide from the cameras,” a law enforcement official said Thursday, with sources suggesting the move is designed to give officers on the case their due after extensive investigations.

Weinstein is expected to arrive at around 7am ET at an NYPD station, going first through the booking process before being transferred in handcuffs to Manhattan criminal court. He is then expected, with lawyer Benjamin Brafman by his side, to respond to the complaint from the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

Bail will likely be set at around $1 million. Weinstein has also reportedly been deemed a flight risk and may be required to give up his passport and wear an ankle bracelet, or similar monitoring device.

The Manhattan D.A.'s office declined to comment on the proceedings. In November, an NYPD official said authorities were building a rape case against Weinstein based on “credible and detailed” allegations from actress Paz de La Huerta, as well as four others, including those brought by Lucia Evans, who alleged that Weinstein forcer her to perform oral sex on him in 2004.

The producer is also currently under investigation by police in London and Los Angeles. Weinstein has consistently denied engaging in non-consensual sex.
