George Clooney earnt more last year than any other actor.
Forbes estimates that the 57-yea-old made around $239 million (£180 million) in the year starting 1 June, thanks almost entirely to the sale of the tequila company Casamigos.
Clooney co-founded the company in 2011 with two other investors, each putting in an estimated $600,00 (£452,000). Casamigos was sold to Diageo – the world’s largest drinks company – last year for $1 billion (£753 million). The actor directed last year’s Suburbicon , starring Matt Damon, to disappointing box office returns.
The next highest grossing actor is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who took a massive paycheck following the success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle , the former wrestler earning $124 million (£93.4 million).
