After Disney confirmed they had bought 21st Century Fox, the future of the studio’s X-Men franchise was brought into question. Would The Mouse bring the mutants into their own Marvel Cinematic Universe, or let them continue separately?

Whatever the case, Fox has done a huge rearrange on when their upcoming X-Men spin-offs are reaching cinemas, massively changing the upcoming schedule.

First, The New Mutants — a trailer for which was released late last year — has been delayed ten months, now coming 22nd February 2019 when originally scheduled for this April.

As a result, Deadpool 2 has been brought forward to 18 May, meaning we’ll be seeing Ryan Reynolds next flick two weeks earlier than previously.

The much delayed Gambit, which has also lost director Gore Verbinski, touches down 7 June 2019 rather than 14 February that same year. Meanwhile, X-Men: Dark Phoenix won’t be affected by the changes.

Disney look likely to have full ownership of Fox by February next year — whether the release schedule moves again remains to be seen.
