Armie Hammer spoken to by police over ‘stolen’ video from his private Instagram

Actor has been embroiled in a number of recent scandals on social media

Armie Hammer was spoken to by police about a controversial “stolen” video from his private Instagram account.

The Call Me by Your Name actor, who has been embroiled in a social media scandal in recent weeks, could be seen in the video with an unidentified woman – referred to as “Miss Cayman” – positioned on all-fours on a bed.

The Grand Cayman police confirmed to Page Six that they had spoken to Hammer last Friday (15 January) about the footage.

“On January 15, 2021, the RCIPS received an allegation of misuse of ICT in relation to a suggestive video which had been posted on social media,” police told the publication.

“Officers investigated the matter and spoke to the suspect, who was warned about his conduct, in accordance with the wishes of the complainant.”

The case against Hammer, who was not brought into police custody or arrested, is no longer active.

In the video, which the actor said was “stolen” from his account, Hammer could be heard explaining to the camera that he had to travel to the Cayman Islands.

“Which sucks”, he said, before adding: “Except there are a few silver linings. Like f***ing Miss Cayman again while I’m down there.”

While the face of the woman Hammer refers to was obscured in the video, Hammer was forced to apologise after the Miss Cayman Islands Universe beauty pageant distanced themselves from the video.

Speaking to local newspaper The Cayman Compass, Hammer said: “I would like to clarify that the person in my video, which was stolen from my private Instagram, is not Miss Cayman.

“I am genuinely sorry for any confusion my foolish attempt at humour may have caused. My deep sympathies to Miss Cayman, who I don’t know, and to the entire organisation, as I had no intentions of implying she was actually Miss Cayman.”
