Parents post bizarre job advert seeking nanny to cook and clean for their 18-year-old university student daughter

If you are looking to kick off the New Year with a change in career, there is a job listing which has been gaining attention on social media that might be of interest.

The part-time position is for a nanny in Leeds, but it comes with a twist.

Instead of taking care of a small child, the job requires someone to cook, clean and do laundry for an 18-year-old law student.

The position, which was advertised on recruitment site Indeed, explains that the nanny will be required to prepare three healthy meals per day, as well as ensure the teenager’s fridge is full of healthy snacks and juice.

The advert adds that the student already has a driver and a “lovely” two bedroom apartment in Leeds City Centre, but that she needs someone to ensure she can live “without the stress of laundry and cooking” due to her “very intense” schedule.

The listing has been mocked tirelessly on Twitter, with one user exclaiming that “rich people are actually mental”.

Another person criticised the advert, stating: “Meanwhile half her classmates will be working two jobs to survive.”

A third user chimed in, questioning her ability as a lawyer if she was unable to take care of herself.

“Seriously?! If she can’t look after herself as a student how the hell is she going to manage in the real world practising law! I wouldn’t want her representing me!” they wrote.

Some were more encouraging about the post, with one person writing: “Wait – you get to live in the city centre apartment?

"And all you have to do is load a Canadian lass up with Greggs sausage rolls and wave a pledge dusters about the place?!

“Then cover me in maple syrup and call me Alanis – I am in.”

The advert adds that the potential candidate needs just one year of experience babysitting and no CV is required to apply.

Lewis Dean, corporate communications manager at Indeed, has confirmed to The Independent that the job listing is genuine.
