A filmmaker says he “nearly died” after driving through raging wildfires in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Footage shared by Instagram user @ibrafilms_ captures his vehicle passing through flames and smoke on both sides of a highway in Hammonds Plains, Halifax.

“Guys, we almost died,” the filmmaker says in a video shared after their terrifying experience.

“The fire is spreading, it’s very serious, I’m not kidding. We couldn’t see anything.”

A local state of emergency has been declared in Halifax after the wildfire caused evacuations and power outages.
