QI series N: Watch the first clip of Sandi Toksvig on BBC show after replacing Stephen Fry

'You’ve got it, you’re in the right chair'

Late last year, Stephen Fry announced he would no longer be hosting QI, leaving the door wide open for someone equally clever and witty to host.

Recurring panelist Sandi Toksvig was immediately moved into his position, describing the role as her "dream job”. Alan Davies confirmed he will remain a resident panelist.

Now, after quite some waiting, QI is returning to our TV screens, with the BBC offering up their first clip of Toksvig presenting the show.

As always, the panelists are asked a difficult question that they struggle to answer, with Davis offering a nugget of wisdom. Eventually, he asks Toksvig a question back concerning the correct grammatical way to say “the police are quizzing a subject” to which she answers “that comes from inquisitive and inquisition”.

“You’ve got it, you’re in the right chair,” says Davis in response, a reference to her replacing Fry. Other guests on what will be the first episode of Series N are Cariad Lloyd, Romesh Ranganathan, and Phill Jupitus.

QI begins again on Friday 21 October at 10pm on BBC2.
